Ny Rosborg
LYTT Architecture has devised the development plan for Ny Rosborg, which in the future will make up Vejle’s new resilient neighbourhood. The new neighbourhood is gently adapted to the area and connects Vejle further to the Ådalen. Furthermore, Ny Rosborg transforms a previously inaccessible landfill into an attractive excursion spot and a diverse and climate adapted neighbourhood.
The project’s visionary development build on Vejle’s landscape and urban DNA and Vejle Municipality’s great ambitions and work with ‘100 Resilient Cities’. In the future, Ny Rosborg will not just handle a number of practical challenges, but also, through an experimental and learning approach contribute to a real cultural change amongst the future residents and the children, which will grow up as part of the new community in Ny Rosborg.
Ny Rosborg will be a steppingstone to nature for Vejle’s current and future inhabitants, as well as a dense neighbourhood with interesting neighbourhood streets and calm nature spaces.
The Ådalen’s blue-green nature is drawn in from the southwest and surrounds the built-up islets, which make up the urban area’s neighbourhoods. The blue-green landscape also borders on the surrounding neighbourhoods and will function both as a green buffer as well as an inviting connection to all the recreational experiences that protrude in Ny Rosborg’s blue-green landscape.
The vision to create a dense neighbourhood with nature, everyday adventures and communities is delivered through the work with holistic and robust development principles, which ensure that Ny Rosborg will become a “good place to live” as well as a “good place to visit”. The approach is to work with resilience as a lever for the town’s identity, to let communities grow through invitation and involvement as well as draw up of a strategy for mobility that is all about weaving Ny Rosborg together with the town’s existing streets and paths. Thus, Ny Rosborg will become a strong neighbourhood and an attractive destination. The development of creating life and communities in the are has already started. The new resilient neighbourhood will eventually house 4-500o new inhabitants and the first buildings are expected to sprout within the next 2-3 years.
